Pinnacle Focused Consulting

Every hospital will face challenges that represent new and uncharted territory in physician contracting.  Physicians are increasingly relying on hospitals for business support, and hospitals are launching an array of new integration initiatives in response to competitive pressures.  These situations require greater diligence in both business model development and compliance analysis.  The third component of the Pinnacle FMV Program is Focused Consulting.

For more than 15 years, Pinnacle consultants have been assisting hospitals, physician groups and other provider organizations evaluate the appropriateness of contracting terms and other aspects of health business ventures.  Pinnacle is commonly recommended by legal counsel to their clients in an effort to gain more assurance regarding the reasonableness of deal terms embedded within strategic initiatives.  As new, unique or more complex situations arise, Pinnacle is often asked to provide market intelligence critical to business development and project analysis.  These more complicated scenarios often require the broad perspective, expertise, experience and network reach Pinnacle has established over the years.

Focused Consulting complements the elements of the Pinnacle FMV Program.  Not all physician contract arrangements can be addressed within the FMV parameters of the Workbook, and available market comparable information may not be precise enough to satisfy tests of commercial reasonability.  FMV consulting engagements are highly varied, but more typical projects include reviews and analysis of:

Compensation for highly specialized physicians
De Novo and renewal employment arrangements, medical director and call arrangements
Specialty stipend, hospital specialty coverage arrangements
Physician compensation plan methodologies
Block Lease terms
Joint venture, under arrangements and integration projects
Management service programs for independent physicians
Business valuations for practice acquisition / divestiture, and
The spectrum of physician – hospital collaborations requiring FMV analysis for compliance.
